Around Bausman

A huge thank you to all who donated and participated in the CROP Walk on October 8. As a church we raised a total of $644.37 to add to the fight against hunger! Thankfully the rain held off long enough for the walk. Pastor Mark, Angela Wertz, Dena Wertz, Pat Ori, Jill Johnson, Bonnie Shiner and myself walked for a great cause. We were also informed that a portion of the money raised will go to Puerto Rico to send aid and resources during this hard time. Thanks again for everyone's help! ~Hayley Wertz

A sincere thank you to all the volunteers who participated in our recent Family Promise host week September 24. Whether you helped set up or break down the rooms, provided a meal, stayed overnight, washed laundry or donated money, you helped Eddie and Nicole's family through a difficult time. "Whoever is kind to the needy honors God". Proverbs 14:31

Bausman UCC continues to improve our physical building for the benefit of all! A.H. Moyer is putting air-conditioning on the third floor and Penn Tele-Data added a code-keypad at the ramp door. Now your code will work at two doors!

A lot of good things continue to happen at Bausman church. We praise God from whom all blessings flow! We also thank Chris Wertz and the Property Committee for all the work they do to keep our church clean, safe, and up-to-date!

B.I.N.G.O. was the name of the game on Saturday, April 29 in Fellowship Hall. About 50 Bausman friends and family gathered to eat all kinds of homemade pasta from Lori and Skeet Moser. It was delicious! The Middle and High school youth: Elle McKemy, Hayley Wertz, Angela Wertz, Kaitlyn Brunner, and Maggie Smedley ran the rest of the evening by taking orders, serving dinner, and providing the yummy toppings for the ice cream sundaes. Our Bingo callers, Angela Wertz and Emily Smedley, were great callers and awarded all of the prizes from our generous donors: Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, Pagoda Golf Area, Friendly's West Lawn, Spayd's Nursery, and Wild Birds Unlimited. Thank you for food donations for the Calvary Food Bank and to all who attended the fun evening to support the Youth Groups of Bausman!

A great, big, resurrection thank you to one and all for making this year's Easter celebration a memorable one at Bausman Church! Thanks for Lori Moser, Bonnie Shiner, Cece Wagner and their committee for overseeing the morning breakfast and all those who provided the food and drinks! Thank you to Sharon Luyben and the Chancel Choir and Jane Bitner and the Youth Choir for praising God and inspiring us with their anthems. We also thank Head Usher, Gary Rhoads, for overseeing the ushers, greeters, and acolytes. Finally, thank you for coming and praising the Lord for the good news of Christ's resurrection.

A few photos from the Fund Raising committee's Sticky Bun Sale in March! Yum!!
Thanks to all who supported this sale and filled their tummies.

At the monthly "Stand Down" in City Park, Reading, PA - veterans, their families, and local people can get a hot meal, some clothes, treats, and at times a haircut. Bausman offers to all who come to our tables: a warm smile, a place to sit and talk, snacks and home-made treats, warm hats, blessings, and prayers for those who are interested in these things. This is one way that we carry out our ministry to veterans, their families, and the Reading Community.

A sincere thank you to all our generous volunteers who helped make our Family Promise host week from March 19-26 a success. Whether you provided breakfast food, prepared a dinner, washed the linens, stayed overnight or gave a monetary donation, your participation in this program to aid homeless families is greatly appreciated.

The Women's Group had another successful Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner on Saturday, March 5. We served about 120 people! Thanks to all of you who made the sauerkraut back in November and also prepared the dinner, served, baked and cleaned up after the event in March. The pies and cakes were impressive. The new kitchen stoves were fantastic and served us well. The profits from the dinner amount to $1200 which will be used to continue renovations on the kitchen.
We are gaining a reputation for our sauerkraut. We hope to make more sauerkraut this early fall to have available to sell by the jar before Christmas.

Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped with the preparations of ingredients for the soups for the Women's Soup Sale January 25-28.
